Central Oregon groups get grants for electric vehicles, infrastructure

Several organizations in Central Oregon received grants that will be used to fund projects ranging from e-bikes to electric vehicles and charging stations.
The projects are all located in Pacific Power’s service area, which spans more than 200 communities in Oregon and Washington. Many of those awarded are located in Central Oregon.
The grantees include:
Around the Bend Farms, which provides access to and education on fresh produce throughout Central Oregon, to purchase an electric truck and install two electric car chargers.
Central Oregon Avalanche Center, a resource with regional avalanche forecasting and education, to buy two fully electric snowmobiles.
Central Oregon Community College, with campuses throughout Central Oregon, to purchase an electric van for delivering mail on campus.
Crooked River Watershed Council, serving more than 70,000 people, to buy an electric passenger truck and an electric utility task vehicle (UTV).
Friends of the Children – Central Oregon gives youth in poverty, foster care and other trauma-related situations access to mental health services in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. Funding will help offset the cost of purchasing two electric passenger vehicles.
Furnish Hope, which provides furnishing for homes in Central Oregon, will use grant funds to purchase an electric vehicle and an electric transit van.
The High Desert Museum, in Bend since 1982, will purchase four electric UTVs to provide faster, quieter and more efficient transportation for staff.
Mountain View Community Development, helping people leave homelessness in Redmond, will purchase an electric, light-duty truck to deliver food and supplies and offer rides to appointments and other services for unhoused clients in Central Oregon.
North Unit Irrigation District, which supplies water for roughly 59,000 acres of farmland in Jefferson County, will purchase two electric, light-duty trucks and two electric chargers.
Rooted Homes, an organization that provides sustainable and affordable housing in Central Oregon, will purchase and install 18 electric chargers to support electric vehicle use and promote sustainable transportation.
