A Lancaster County college has launched a five-month training in renewable energy construction technology.

Those who go through the training will earn certifications in OSHA 10, forklift and rigging, iron iidge installation, solar edge installation, Enphase installation, and North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners and Photovoltaics installation.

Classes include AC/DC electrical work, solar energy principles, roofing construction and safety, photovoltaic system design/install/maintenance and OSHA 10. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily.

The program is a partnership with Tec Centro, part of the Spanish American Civic Association. Tec Centro West hosts the program at 57 Laurel St. in Lancaster, while the college runs the program and provides the instruction.

A school spokesperson said that those who complete this training will be able to find careers in solar energy installation and in renewable energy work.

The first program offering began in August. It will be offered again in February.

Information sessions and tours of the training space will be held at Tec Centro West from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Oct. 6, 20, and 27.
