Check your pantry: Chocolate bars from Whole Foods, Amazon may be contaminated

You might want to reconsider reaching for this type of chocolate if you’re looking for a snack.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Spring & Mulberry has issued a voluntary recall of lot #025255 of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar (2.1 ounces) due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

No illnesses or adverse effects have been reported to date.

Which type of chocolate was recalled and where was it sold?

The product in question can be identified by the brand name Spring & Mulberry, teal box color, Mint Leaf flavor name and lot code #025255 listed on the back of the packaging and inner flow wrap, according to the FDA.

The affected product has been available for purchase at online retailers such as Amazon and through other nationwide retailers such as Whole Foods, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom since Sept. 15, 2025.

The Raleigh, North Carolina-based company initiated the recall after routine testing by a third-party laboratory noted the potential for contamination.

What should you do if you have one of these chocolates?

Customers who have purchased the affected product are urged to throw it out.

Instead, they are encouraged to request a refund by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the lot code.
