Chicopee Police post warnings about new Bitcoin scam

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The Chicopee Police Department is sending out a warning about a new Bitcoin scam.
They say the scam involved people that call you saying there is a problem with your Facebook account, and they ask for payment in Bitcoin to fix the problem.
In response to this scam detectives went to bitcoin ATMs throughout the city to post the warnings and Monday.
When detectives entered the shell station on Grove Street, they saw an elderly man in the process of depositing 4-thousand dollars into the bitcoin machine to post bail for a family member.
This was a scam, and detectives were able to intervene, saving the man his money.
