China Resources Power Renewable Energy Spin-Off Approved for Shenzhen Listing

China Resources Power (CRP), a major mainland electricity generator traded in Hong Kong, secured approval to separate its clean-energy business for an independent listing in Shenzhen. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange’s listing committee gave the green light to the proposed A-share offering of China Resources New Energy Holdings on April 28, as disclosed in a CRP filing. The company noted that the deal still needs registration clearance from the China Securities Regulatory Commission and depends on market conditions.

This development advances a strategy initially revealed in March 2023, moving the state-owned power firm nearer to completion after about three years of groundwork. The approval underscores robust appetite for renewable energy, fueled by China’s long-term goals to reduce carbon emissions.

China Resources New Energy, which holds the group’s wind and solar operations, aims to raise roughly 24.5 billion yuan (US$3.6 billion) through the IPO, which could rank among the largest clean-energy listings in Shenzhen in recent times. According to the company’s prospectus, the funds will support the development of wind and solar projects.

By the close of 2025, the unit had an installed capacity of approximately 41.6 gigawatts, with wind power representing the bulk and solar the remainder, the prospectus indicated. Its facilities operated across 31 provinces, placing it among China’s top renewable energy firms.
