January 7, 2026
The city of Steamboat Springs will distribute more than $860,000 this year to 44 local organizations supporting human services, arts, culture and environmental programs across the Yampa Valley, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
The funding, approved as part of the city’s 2026 budget, helps sustain programs that provide critical services and strengthen the region’s cultural and ecological landscape.
“Each year, we see firsthand how deeply these organizations touch the lives of people across our valley,” said City Manager Tom Leeson in the statement. “This funding reflects our community’s shared commitment to strengthening the human services network, protecting our natural environment, and nurturing the arts and cultural experiences that make Steamboat Springs such a special place.”
Since 2017, the city has invested nearly $6.4 million in community support funding, with annual allocations totaling about 1.46% of the city’s general fund expenditures. Individual awards for 2026 range from roughly $2,250 to $87,000.
Arts and culture recipients include the Strings Music Festival, Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School, Steamboat Art Museum and the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra.
Environmental groups receiving support include the Community Agriculture Alliance, Yampatika, the Western Resilience Center (formerly the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council) and Friends of the Yampa.
Human services grants will go to organizations including LiftUp of Routt County, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide, Northwest Colorado Health and the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Colorado.
