City cops unearth cannabis farmswith interstate drug trafficking links

Jaipur: In a crackdown onillegal drug cultivation, the Jaipur (Rural) police uncovered a sprawling network of cannabis farms spanning six locations in the Kaladera police station area. They seized 1,050 plants, weighing approximately 69.7kg. Acting on intelligence, the police conducted the opeartion late Wednesday night and discovered a clandestine network of growers allegedly linked tointerstate drug trafficking.
The joint team raided multiple secluded sites, including areas near hotels, farmlands, and a water filter plant. The largest haul came from near a culvert, where cannabis plants were found strategically planted to evade detection. A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against unidentified suspects.
The confiscated plants were found across six spots: 150 of them, weighing 13.8kg, behind a hotel; 150 (4.4kg) behind a water filter plant; 150 (16.8kg) in front of another hotel; 200 (13.1kg) near farmland, 200 (12.9kg) in a residential colony; and 200 (8.8kg) near another farmland. Police said the accused had chosen isolated sites to avoid public attention.
“This racket reveals a dangerous trend where local culprits collaborate with interstate traffickers to cultivate cannabis in hidden pockets,” said a senior police officer. “The seized plants, after maturing, were to be supplied across state lines.”
Authorities are scanning CCTV footage and interrogating locals to identify those involved. Special teams have been deployed to trace the supply chain and arrest traffickers. “We are probing financial trails and possible accomplices,” the officer added. But no arrests have been made yet and investigations are going on.
