CleanChoice Energy, the first fully green energy company in the U.S. to integrate solar power generation and clean energy supply under one roof, has announced the acquisition of two new solar projects in New York State. Located in Washington and Rensselaer Counties, these projects named Dolan and Hawthorn will collectively generate 54.2 megawatts (MW) of clean electricity upon completion, effectively doubling CleanChoice’s generation capacity in the Mid-Atlantic region.

This announcement follows CleanChoice’s launch of its first solar farm in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, just six months earlier. The company is also progressing with the construction of another facility in Kylertown, Pennsylvania, as part of its broader strategy to expand solar ownership and operations. Both the Dolan and Hawthorn projects were selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) through its competitive program supporting large-scale renewable energy developments. Only 26 projects were selected across the state, positioning Dolan and Hawthorn as critical contributors to New York’s ambitious goal of reaching 70% clean electricity by 2030.

Spanning 133 acres and 117 acres respectively, each site will have a generation capacity of 27.1 MW and will interconnect to National Grid. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2025, with both projects scheduled to come online in the fourth quarter of 2026. CleanChoice’s acquisition of the projects from CS Energy who originated and developed them over the past five years aligns with the company’s long-term vision of bringing locally generated solar power directly to communities. Beyond clean energy generation, both sites will include environmental enhancements that support local ecosystems, demonstrating CleanChoice’s broader commitment to sustainability.

The company is also investing in the local community. CleanChoice recently donated $70,000 to the Hoosick Fire District in Rensselaer County and plans to launch annual scholarships for local graduating high school seniors pursuing careers in sustainability or environmental sciences. With these acquisitions, CleanChoice Energy reinforces its role as a leader in community-centered, clean power solutions, continuing to expand access to renewable energy across the Mid-Atlantic while actively supporting environmental stewardship and local development.
