When comedian Amy Schumer wants to get away from New York, she flies to New Orleans, where she and her husband, Chris Fischer, have invested in a second home in the vibrant French Quarter, Realtor.com reports.

“N’Orleans,” as locals refer to it, first stole Schumer’s heart in 2016, so much so that after several more visits, she decided to set up a second home there.

Don’t Miss:

“Over the years, going on the road, doing stand-up, and then eventually being married and pregnant, we were spending more and more time here. And so in 2021, we bought this beautiful place and renovated it and made it into our dream, dramatic New Orleans hang,” she told Realtor.com.

Though primarily based in Manhattan, where she moved recently, after listing her Brooklyn townhome for $14 million, to be closer to her son’s school, Schumer told Realtor.com her New Orleans hideaway was her “dream come true.” The expansive home is hardly a chic, contemporary designer retreat but a character-filled, whimsical homestead with high ceilings, cove moldings, and inset porch balconies.

Schumer, who Forbes estimated to be worth $37.5 million in 2017, became one of the highest-paid female comedians with a series of films, comedy tours, endorsements, and book deals. After finding wealth and fame, she set about investing in real estate, the first of which was the family farm she lived on as a child but was forced to leave when her parents filed for bankruptcy, Realtor.com reports.

Another of her purchases boasts a $200,000 treehouse, which the listing site speculates is on the grounds of her home in Martha’s Vineyard, from where her husband hails.

Since COVID, there has been a flurry of deals. In 2022, Schumer listed her Upper West Side penthouse on the market for $15 million, buying a $12.5 million townhouse in Brooklyn Heights in 2022, now listed for $14 million, to be closer to her son’s Manhattan school.

“He got into a good school, and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” she told The Wall Street Journal when listing the home.

While in New Orleans, Schumer won’t be short of thespian pals for company. Fellow entertainers who call the city home include “White Lotus” actress Jennifer Coolidge, actor John Goodman, who has lived there for years but recently put his long-time home on the market, and acclaimed TV and theater actor Wendell Pierce, a New Orleans native.
