Company to launch first all-female crew on historic spaceflight
April 13, 2025
VAN HORN, Texas (WKRC/CNN Newsource) – Blue Origin was set to make history on Monday with the launch of its first all-female crew aboard the New Shepard rocket.
The mission, marking the 31st flight for the rocket, will include six women: journalist Gayle King, music artist Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, who is engaged to Jeff Bezos, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen.
The journey will be fully autonomous, lasting approximately 11 minutes, and will take the crew above the internationally recognized boundary of space. During the flight, the women will experience weightlessness and have the opportunity to view Earth through the rocket’s windows.
This mission is notable as it is the first all-female flight crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight on a Soviet spacecraft in 1963.
