A county arguing that multiple local governments can impose simultaneous cannabis taxes asked the Missouri Supreme Court to review its case.

Vertical Enterprises LLC’s suit against Buchanan County had been stayed by the Missouri Western District Court of Appeals while a parallel suit involving St. Louis is already pending at the state high court. Buchanan notified the Western District on April 1 of its transfer request.

In the St. Louis case, another state appeals court held that only one local government can impose a 3% cannabis tax on dispensaries.
