CST Celebrates Green Wednesday 2025 | Cannabis Science and Technology – Cannabis Industry

November 26, 2025

In the cannabis industry, the day before Thanksgiving is referred as the biggest sales day of the year. The holiday event is called “Green Wednesday” and can better be known as the “Black Friday” for cannabis (1).

To celebrate, Cannabis Science and Technology is putting the spotlight on cannabis by compiling green-related content, new and old. From product manufacturing of edibles, topicals, and pre-rolls to other cannabis science, the cannabis plant is a fascinating subject that Cannabis Science and Technology is dedicated to covering closely. Enjoy Green Wednesday 2025!

Cannabis edibles are growing in popularity in legal cannabis markets due to their ease of use. Products like cookies or chocolate bars, for example, can be easily divided up for optimal dosage and titration. An April 2025 Research and Markets report called “Cannabis Edibles Market Opportunity, Growth Drivers, Industry Trend Analysis, and Forecast 2025-2034”, showed that in 2024, the cannabis edibles market was estimated to be valued at $12.3 billion. By 2034, the edibles industry is anticipated to reach $54 billion and have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.9%.

The cannabis industry is undergoing a seismic shift, with pre-rolls officially dethroning flower as the top-selling segment in the market. But producing a perfect, premium pre-roll is an art and a science. For example, to ensure a smooth, even burn, manufacturers must carefully control the flower’s particle size as well as maintain an optimal moisture content to safeguard the delicate terpenes. As demand soars, producers are increasingly turning to automation for the high throughput and consistency that manual methods can’t match, shifting their focus from product weight to volume. However, the quest for full automation is not without its own challenges.

There is a growing body of scientific literature demonstrating that topically applied cannabinoids may provide therapeutic benefits by either relieving pain or alleviating symptoms of skin conditions. “There have been human studies showing benefits of topical cannabis preparations in a variety of conditions, including musculoskeletal symptoms like TMJ pain and sports-related pain, as well as dermatological conditions like acne, eczema, and wound healing,” said Dustin Sulak, DO, Founder of Healer. “There is also clinical evidence of systemic absorption of topically-applied cannabinoids for systemic conditions like peripheral neuropathy and Fragile X syndrome. Preclinical studies show many more benefits, including UV light protection, anticancer effects, and more.”

In this clip from our conversation, Millard explains an example of “cannafraud” in the industry and how developing standards can combat these challenges.
