Curaleaf employees sue over alleged wrongful cannabis tip distribution in Maryland

March 10, 2025

MARYLAND — Maryland employees of Curaleaf filed a lawsuit against the national cannabis dispensary on Thursday alleging it wrongfully distributed tips to people within managerial positions.

The plaintiffs allege Curaleaf violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and unjustly enriched itself when people in management roles received a larger portion of the tip pool.

Curaleaf could not be immediately reached for comment.

According to court documents, each store includes 15 to 18 budtenders, three to four supervisors, one assistant manager and one store manager.
