Gorakhpur: Chief MinisterYogi Adityanathon Sunday laid foundation of the ‘Shri Paramhansa Yogananda Janmasthali Smriti Bhavan‘ near Kotwali police station in Gorakhpur, emphasising that growth and prosperity were possible only in a secure environment.Addressing a large gathering post the bhoomi pujan ceremony, Yogi said, “A strong security environment has been established in every district of UP, paving way for rapid development.Security is fundamental to prosperity.” The memorial, dedicated to the global spiritual icon, will be built at a cost of Rs 27.68 crore and is expected to be ready in 18 months.Taking a swipe at previous govts, Yogi said, “Before 2017, mafias and corrupt individuals operated parallel to the govt, grabbing land and stalling progress. Today, no one dares encroach on property or harass women and traders.”Declaring Pakistan a terror state, Yogi said India’s BrahMos missile that targeted a Pakistani aircraft will now be manufactured in Lucknow, while artillery from UP will instill fear in enemies. “Fight for nation is everyone’s fight,” he asserted.Speaking about spiritual heritage, the CM said disconnecting from one’s roots leads to darkness. “Paramhansa Yogananda’s legacy will be preserved through this yoga temple, honoring his global impact in spreading yoga and Indian spirituality,” he said.MP Ravi Kishan said the memorial will echo across Los Angeles, US and attract global followers. Swami Ishwarananda of Yogoda Satsanga Society hailed CM Yogi for gifting a sacred pilgrimage site to Yogananda’s followers worldwide.Yogi also reviewed the project layout and instructed officials to ensure their timely and quality completion.
