WFU’s Sabin Center for Environment and Sustainability hosting free conference & keynote Nov. 13

The theme is, “Sustainable, Just and Abundantly Wild: Effective Action at Every Scale.”

The Andrew Sabin Family Center for Environment and Sustainability at Wake Forest University is hosting its second conference Thursday, November 13th. It’s called, “Sustainable, Just and Abundantly Wild: Effective Action at Every Scale.”All programming is free and open to the public with registration. Click here to register. Dr. Miles Silman, Andrew Sabin Professor of Conservation Biology at WFU gave a preview of what the community can expect. Silman discussed how the conference will bring together practitioners, academics and community members to explore questions about the relationships and systems to protect people and the planet.Leaders said the conference will also feature unique partnerships between WFU and the community, including food resilience work with Second Harvest Food Bank and water quality work with Yadkin Riverkeeper. Through this convening, they seek to catalyze creative and purposeful conversations, advance shared knowledge, and strengthen relationships at the campus, community, regional, and global levels.Daytime conference sessions are from 9am-4pm and the evening keynote is at 7pm preceded by a 6pm reception. The evening keynote will feature National Geographic CEO, Dr. Jill Tiefenthaler. She previously served as Wake Forest’s Provost in 2007-2011 and was instrumental in launching the Sabin Center. Tiefenhaler’s keynote title is, “From Exploration to Action: Accelerating Impact to Meet This Moment.”
