Environmental conference held in South Georgia

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – The fourth annual Environmental Justice and Climate Protection Conference is being held in Valdosta on Thursday, June 12, and Friday, June 13.
The conference is organized by Science for Georgia in partnership with other justice and protection organizations.

Organizers said the conference brings together community leaders, concerned citizens, elected officials, academics, and industry experts to share information focused on identifying solutions to improve the health and environment of all Georgians.
“We need this because we are experiencing environmental issues. We are experiencing the impact of climate change through these storms. The hurricane, it was major and we felt like we wanted to give every access to this information so we can be more proactive,” Dr. Treva Gear, Dogwood Alliance said.
The two-day conference is being held at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Valdosta with speakers from across the state of Georgia.
