FAA investigating after amazon delivery drone ‘struck wire’ line in Waco

November 26, 2025

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says it is investigating after an Amazon delivery drone “struck a wire line” in Waco, Texas.

The MK30 drone hit the wire at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, according to the FAA.

Amazon spokesperson Terrence Clark issued a statement saying, “This was not a crash.”

“On November 18, after completing a delivery, our drone clipped a thin, overhead internet cable then performed a Safe Contingent Landing, as designed. There were no injuries or widespread internet service outages. We’ve paid for the cable line’s repair for the customer and have apologized for the inconvenience this caused them,” Clark said.

Amazon states that they self-reported this incident to the FAA, and any review they may conduct is likely standard procedure.

The company states that it has not received any questions or follow-up from the FAA at this time. More information about Amazon’s Safe Contingent Landings (SCLs) can be found here.

The aircraft registration number is N139PA and can be searched here, according to the FAA.
