FBI sets up support center for Bourbon Street attack victims and their families

January 7, 2025

The FBI has set up a Family Assistance Center at a New Orleans church for victims of the deadly Jan. 1 Bourbon Street attack.

The center offers assistance such as mental health services, financial and lodging assistance, applications for a crime victim reparations fund, and needs assessments.

Victims can recover any personal items left behind at the scene of the attack, where Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed a truck through crowds of revelers along three blocks of Bourbon Street. The attack killed 14 people and injured dozens.

The center is for victims, their families and anyone present at the attack, whether or not they suffered injuries, the FBI said.

It is located at St. Martin de Porres Catholic School at 5621 Elysian Fields Ave. Services are available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with hours subject to change.

The center is a partnership between state, local and federal agencies which will provide in-person services.

Language interpretation services are also available.
