Federal court tosses lawsuit trying to block medical cannabis legalization in Nebraska
June 26, 2025
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The lawsuit filed late last year attempting to block the two initiatives that legalized medical marijuana in Nebraska was thrown out in federal court Thursday.
The lawsuit filed by John Kuehn claimed the ballot measures violated the state and federal law. A Lancaster County judge found the man who filed the lawsuit didn’t have standing to sue.
The ruling comes on the same day the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission adopted emergency regulations.
Last November, Nebraskans overwhelmingly voted in support of legalizing medical marijuana and regulating. Seven of every 10 Nebraska voters said “yes.”
