FES Colombia: The country’s top authorities will discuss the 2030 renewable energy horizon
October 10, 2025
Representatives from CREG, ACOLGEN, FENOGE, the National Planning Department (DNP), and the Ministry of Mines and Energy will discuss the decisions that will mark the transition toward a more competitive, flexible, and sustainable electricity system at the most important renewable energy meeting in the sector.
The fifth edition of the Future Energy Summit (FES) Colombia will take place on October 21 and 22 at the Hilton Hotel in Bogotá and will bring together leading figures in the renewable energy sector. Tickets for the networking and technical analysis sessions are now available by clicking here . Those interested can follow the event live on the FES YouTube channel .
Among the most anticipated debates is the panel titled “Regulatory and Public Policy Priorities of the Colombian Energy Sector: Horizon 2030 ,” which will address the challenges and definitions that will shape the course of the energy transition in the next decade.
Key figures from national institutions and regulations will participate: Natalia Gutiérrez , executive president of ACOLGEN ; Antonio Jiménez Rivera , commissioner of CREG ; Amylkar Acosta , former Minister of Mines and Energy; Ángela Patricia Álvarez Gutiérrez , executive director of FENOGE ; and Nicolás Rincón Munar , director of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy at the DNP .
The debate comes at a time when Colombia is redefining its electricity regulatory framework . With CREG working on regulations for remote self-generation, energy storage, and the redesign of the reliability charge , and with energy auctions looming, the discussion will focus on how to reconcile decarbonization goals with price stability and system security.
Commissioner Antonio Jiménez Rivera will provide the regulator’s technical vision regarding new instruments to encourage flexibility and the introduction of renewable technologies without compromising investment signals.
It will also address how complementary services and tariff signals will evolve in the face of the growing participation of distributed systems and batteries.
For her part, Natalia Gutiérrez , head of ACOLGEN , will represent the views of the generators who sustain the stability of the electrical system. From the union, she has emphasized the need to maintain regulatory clarity and predictability to ensure investment in firm capacity, in a context of technological transformation and growing renewable energy penetration.
Another central focus of the panel will be financing the energy transition , where FENOGE plays a strategic role. Its director, Ángela Patricia Álvarez Gutiérrez , will present the Fund’s lines of work to expand energy efficiency, distributed storage, and community self-generation, with a focus on closing social and territorial gaps in access to clean energy.
The National Planning Department (DNP) , through Nicolás Rincón Munar , will provide a long-term perspective: how decarbonization goals are integrated with electrical infrastructure, public investment instruments, and the climate commitments the country made by 2030.
At this intersection of regulation, financing, and planning, former Minister Amylkar Acosta will invite reflection on the coherence of energy policies, the coordination between the Ministry, the CREG, and private actors, and the need for the transition to also be an opportunity for economic and social development.
A space to define the direction
FES Colombia is consolidating its position as a key platform for analyzing the present and projecting the future of the national energy sector. In this edition, the debate will focus on how to harmonize regulation, public policy, and private investment to ensure a competitive, flexible, and sustainable system in the face of growing demand and climate pressures.
Over the course of the two days, attendees will be able to meet and engage with senior executives, technical directors, investors, and representatives of associations from the electricity, solar and wind generation, storage, hydrogen, and sustainable mobility sectors.
Leading companies in innovation, digitalization, network solutions, and project development—along with investment funds and technology platforms—will share their vision of the challenges and opportunities that will shape the next decade of the energy transition in the region.
Among them, leading companies such as Patria Investments , Ecoener , JA Solar , Sungrow , Trina Solar , Vatia , CTG Latam , Ecopetrol , Atera , EDF Power Solutions , Risen , ZN Shine Solar , Ventus and Terpel Sunex stand out, whose directors and managers will provide perspectives on financing, technology, storage and regional expansion of renewable energies.
