First Look: Reece Witherspoon’s ‘Surf Girls’ Series Returns
June 13, 2025
As surfing’s footprint sinks deeper in the muck of mainstream media – thanks to a confluence of factors including the sport’s entry into the Olympics, the proliferation of wave pools, the COVID-19 surfing boom, etc. – studios are taking a stab at bringing the sport to the big and small screen.
In addition to HBO’s hit series, 100 Foot Wave, there’s another surfing-centric docuseries on Amazon Prime Video. That’s Surf Girls, a show from Reece Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, which follows a group of young, talented female surfers as they strive for stardom. The first season followed, specifically, a cast of Hawaiian surfers. And now, with the series greenlit for season two, the show is expanding to an international cast of characters.
Returning to the show is Eweleiʻula Wong, who is featured in a sneak peek for season two.
