First of monthly renewable energy webinars set Feb. 9
January 29, 2026
The Center for Energy Education will host free, monthly webinar series to share information about the role of renewable energy toward driving impact and innovation in research, education and workforce development.
The initial offering is an hourlong virtual presentation about the Basics of Energy, Monday, February 9, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., featuring Tarik Woods.

The talk will examine explanations, strategies and activities that integrate clean energy into helping improve communities.
Woods is the policy and program manager at the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University who will break down renewable energy terms in simple language to help participants understand how the grid works and why clean energy matters in energy transmission.

He will also outline the differences in solar and wind energy and how battery storage fits into the energy equation.
Woods, who leads research and stakeholder engagement by gathering data to identify and recommend best practices, frames issues and identifies major program themes to determine opportunities for policy and practice developments at state and regional levels.
He will share current information with policymakers, business leaders and stakeholders to design strategic plans that incorporate voices from rural communities.
“Renewable energy projects in our communities offer significant economic mobility and workforce development opportunities in NC’s rural areas,” said C4EE Executive Director Mozine Lowe. “Please join us to gain insight into energy policy and community-focused solutions.”
The webinar is free and open to the public.
The discussion will include time to ask questions and engage with Wood after the presentation. The link is available on the flyer and events page of C4EE’s website
