Former Meta Employee Alleges That The Work Culture Is Concerning At Meta

The troubles for Meta are not going to end anytime soon. In addition, these are not only from external sources but all some internal allegations as well. In a recent development, a Meta researcher has sent, on his exit from the firm, has raised some concerns about the AI division in the company. He said that the culture is one full of fear, dysfunction, and confusion.

The essay by the Employee, Tijmen Blankevoort, as shared by The Information, suggested that the culture of the company is slowly converting to metastatic cancer. He was working in the Meta’s LLaMA models who recently took an exit from the organization.

In his exit note, he has written that a majority of employees in the system feel unmotivated to work and lost to an extent. The major issue in the same arises with the unending layoff season and constant performance reviews. This not only affects the morale of an employee but also has an adverse effect on creativity.

Tijmen stated that the AI division with more than 2000 employees is on fire due to a lack of direction. He further mentioned that most of the people don’t enjoy working in the department along with having little to no idea of what the team wants to achieve. He concluded his statement by saying that the situation is now beyond dysfunction and more like metastatic cancer.

While Meta is poaching employees from big players like OpenAI and Apple, this comes as a shocker as no amount of money could suffice for a workplace where the direction is not even clear. Another major reason here could be that the senior officials in the organization are too busy building the Superintelligence dream team that they are not even able to give direction of work to other teams in the organization.
