LA CROSSE (WKBT)- Illinois environmental nonprofit Living Lands & Water is bringing over 10,000 free native tree saplings to La Crosse and you can get your hands on them Friday May 22.
Sign-up is required by 5 p.m. on Thursday. There is a 25-sapling minimum.
Living Lands & Waters Vice President Dan Breidenstein says they’re looking for private property owners looking for trees. “Normally, we’re out very quick, but we have a surplus that we’re bringing to town. That’s why we’re looking for individuals who have larger amounts of property, that are looking to reforest or replant stuff that has fallen down over the years.”
Available species include Red Oak, Bur Oak, Swamp White Oak, and Pecan.
The pickup is on Friday May 22 from 12 P.M. to 3 P.M. at the Myrick Park Arboretum. Participants must be signed up by Thursday May 21 at 5 P.M.
The sign up link can be found here.
