The UK’s new state-owned energy company is hoping to mobilize £15 billion ($20 billion) of private-sector finance to help fund 15 gigawatts of clean power and storage assets.

Great British Energy was set up last year by the government to own and operate clean-energy assets using taxpayers’ money. It’s part of a broader bet that the state needs to play a bigger role to meet the UK’s climate goals and help bring down energy bills.
