GE Vernova Highlights Grid Stability and Emissions Technologies at Africa Energy Forum
June 17, 2026
GE Vernova (NYSE:GEV) used the Africa Energy Forum to showcase a range of energy technologies designed to support power reliability, emissions management and grid modernization across the continent.
The company focused on digital solutions for utilities and industrial customers, alongside technologies intended to help African energy systems accommodate growing levels of renewable power generation.
AI-Powered Emissions Monitoring Platform Takes Centre Stage
Among the technologies presented was GE Vernova’s CERius™ platform, a digital emissions management solution that combines artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and digital twin capabilities to monitor environmental performance.
The platform has already been implemented at the Sousse B power station by Tunisia’s national utility, STEG. Following validation of the system, STEG reported that the software-based solution could lower associated investment and maintenance expenses by as much as 50% compared with traditional hardware-focused monitoring systems.
The platform is designed to generate verifiable emissions data that can support compliance with international reporting frameworks, including the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
New Whitepaper Focuses on Renewable Grid Resilience
At the event, GE Vernova also unveiled a whitepaper titled “Spain’s 2025 Blackout Experience: Grid Firming Needs for Developing Power Systems with High-Renewable Penetration.”
The report examines lessons from the major power outage on the Iberian Peninsula and outlines strategies that could help African countries maintain grid stability as renewable energy adoption increases.
The company said the publication is intended to support policymakers, utilities and energy planners navigating the transition toward cleaner power systems.
Grid Modernisation Recommendations Unveiled
GE Vernova highlighted several technologies it believes can strengthen electricity networks and improve reliability, including aeroderivative gas turbines, synchronous condensers and advanced power electronics.
The company noted that these solutions can play an important role in balancing renewable energy generation and supporting stable grid operations.
Focus on Africa’s Energy Future
“Building Africa’s industrial future starts with getting the fundamentals right: power that is reliable, sustainable, and ready to scale,” said Joseph Anis, President and CEO of GE Vernova’s Gas Power business in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
GE Vernova also pointed attendees to its separate whitepaper, “Ensuring Power System Stability in an Evolving Electrical Grid,” as an additional resource for organizations planning future grid modernization projects.
