Two months after the US Ninth Circuit largely affirmed the constitutionality of California’s “Protecting Our Kids from Social Media Addiction Act,” Google, TikTok and Meta Platforms have filed separate suits in federal court seeking to block the law’s restrictions on personalized feeds to minors. The trio of suits ask a federal judge to find that the First Amendment bars the law’s restrictions on an “addictive feed” for Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and Threads platforms, for Google’s YouTube and for TikTok.
