Greatland clears key environmental hurdle for Havieron development

May 25, 2026

Greatland Resources Ltd (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF, FRA:G8G, ASX:GGP) has secured the final primary environmental approval required to develop its flagship Havieron gold-copper project in Western Australia, marking another major step towards a final investment decision expected this quarter.

The company said the WA Minister for the Environment had granted state approval for Havieron under the Environmental Protection Act, following a recommendation from the WA Environmental Protection Authority that the project proceed subject to environmental conditions.

The approval follows federal environmental clearance received in April under the commonwealth’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, meaning Havieron has now secured both primary environmental permits required for development and operation.

Greatland is targeting a final investment decision during the current June 2026 quarter as it advances plans to integrate Havieron with its nearby Telfer processing operation in WA’s Paterson Province.

Development work accelerates

Greatland said tendering and early works activities were already under way across several critical project areas, including boxcut tunnel installation, underground development and blind bore construction preparation.

“The receipt of both state and federal environmental approval for our flagship Havieron development project is an important milestone for the project and for Greatland, and is the culmination of successful stakeholder engagement, diligence and persistence from our team,” managing director Shaun Day said.

Greatland plans to integrate Havieron with the nearby Telfer processing operation as part of a broader Paterson Province mining hub strategy.

Long-life production outlook

According to Greatland, Havieron is expected to produce about 270,000 ounces of gold annually in steady state at what it described as lowest quartile operating costs, with an initial mine life of 17 years.

“The development of Havieron, alongside the successful delivery of Telfer life extensions, has the potential to underpin a multi-decade, world class gold-copper mining hub in the Paterson Province,” Day said.

The environmental approvals come as Greatland continues broader exploration and development work across the region. Recent drilling at the Telfer operation has pointed to potential extensions near the West Dome Open Pit, while the company has also reported strong gold-copper intercepts from the nearby Pinnacles target.

Greatland has also benefited from strong gold prices and robust production performance in recent quarters, recently reporting a record quarterly cash build while tracking towards the upper end of production guidance.
