Prime Day is here, and we’re updating this story hourly. To find the best deals in every category, follow all of our Prime Day coverage

We’re halfway through Amazon’s four-day-long Prime Day sale event, so it’s time to get strategic about your purchases. I like to shop practically and think about items that I’ve been meaning to purchase for upcoming summer adventures. Now is a great time to buy discounted outdoor and beach gear, for example, from sunscreen and swimsuits to electrolyte powders and inflatable kayaks. On my travels through Amazon today, I’ve also spotted air conditioners and fans on sale as well as pool toys, coolers, grilling gear, and trendy Bogg beach bags. Kit yourself out for the next three months with the items below.

A hybrid beach-tent-umbrella that’ll give you a clear view of the water, a highly effective invisible mosquito shield, and a non-hideous rash guard from Lands’ End for under $25.

I own one of these mysterious mosquito-repelling orbs, and they really work. Set one up when you’re grilling or just chilling outside, and the whole group will be protected for hours.

For some extra protection, we also like these wearable repellent bracelets that are almost 30 percent off.

Should a particularly intrepid mosquito make it through your invisible barriers, this doodad will alleviate itchiness immediately.

Discounted EltaMD is a Prime Day staple. This stuff continues to be our favorite facial sunscreen because it contains both physical and chemical SPF filters and is also surprisingly moisturizing.

Supergoop is discounting lots of its best-selling sunscreens, including this one, which is as invisible as the name promises.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer is also a reliable and affordable choice.

At this price, you can feel free to spray indiscriminately.

It’s shaping up to be a big flip-flop summer, especially with Havaianas currently priced under $10.

If you require slightly more arch support, Tevas are just as beach-friendly.

I also saw these $6 water shoes, which would be ideal for rocky lake swimming and kayaking.

I own these sunglasses and tragically paid much more for them than this.

Goldilocks-length Levi jorts for more than half-off.

Bike shorts for wearing under big T-shirts or preventing chub rub under summer dresses.

If you’ve read just about any fashion Substack in the past year, you’ll likely be aware of Leset’s flattering Margo tee. It’s $30 off right now.

A $6 scoop-neck tank.

Breezy linen pants beloved by our team of fashion writers.

You’ll be swimming your laps much faster in this Baywatch-red suit.

At this time of year, I’m personally pounding electrolytes. Nuun’s fizzy tabs are great because you can just drop them into a water bottle and go.

We’ve been won over by Owala’s clever, color-blocked water bottles in recent years. This one is particularly sleek.

Or here it is in tumbler version.

A few of Yeti’s deservedly popular Rambler bottles and flasks are on sale, too.

A super-simple personal water filter that can be taken anywhere. Yep, it works just like a straw.

My fellow Strategist writer Dominique Pariso knows everything there is to know about preventing sweat patches in the summer, and she highly recommends these.

Fluffy package resort-style towels for the whole family, even if you’re just headed to the local pool.

A roomy and not-too-Margaritaville beach chair for under $100.

The indestructible Tundra 35, which can keep ice frozen for literal days, is also on sale in another nice color.

Stylish Australian outdoor brand SunnyLife is having a big Prime Day sale, which includes this striped cooler that’s tall enough for a bottle of wine.

Bogg bags have flat bottoms that stay upright on the sand, and they also drain and dry easily. This medium-size is ideal for a solo beach trip.

Whereas this large one is best for families, couples, and groups.

Or for floppy-bag fiends, this mesh one is available in lots of cute colors and costs just $9 right now.

When it comes to beach wagons, large rubber wheels are a necessity. There are lots of cheaper wagons with small plastic wheels on sale for Prime Day, but this was the best deal I found on one that can definitely be hauled through sand.

Peter Shaw, head instructor at Surfs Up NY surf school, likes that this “half-tent, half-umbrella” is “semi-private, since the back half is covered, and that’s pretty cool for hanging out with friends.” He says it stays put in 15 mph wind, the point at which many weaker umbrellas blow away.

There’s still time to make kayaking your personality this summer.

If you take up either of the above hobbies, dry bags would be a good investment.

And a classy striped pool ring for adults.

A floating hammock for lazing around with your La Croix and Kindle Oasis on.

Our kitchen and dining writer Emma Wartzman says the smooth surface of this skillet distinguishes it from cheaper cast-iron options.

A $10 meat thermometer with a lifetime warranty.

A tiny grill to take to the park.

And a very nice-looking canvas apron that’s giving The Bear but costs just $14.

“The Hisense AW0823CW1W doesn’t have an inverter,” explains our air-conditioner expert Michael Zhao, “but it is still very quiet and packs a lot of features in.” He adds that the sound of the compressor is very bass-y — like a didgeridoo — and easy to tune out.

Our junior writer Bella Druckman says that at its highest speed, this fan is “strong enough to make me want to sit under a blanket.”

Dyson’s cooling devices are worth the money, even at full price. “Compared to the two other tower fans I own — generic brands — it’s really cooling,” Strategist senior editor Ailbhe Malone says of this fan. “You get a huge waft of air, rather than the little slats from a regular fan.”
