A 38-year-old man has been arrested after police found him watering a £1m cannabis farm in a raid.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said 2,200 plants were found at an address in Heywood, on 12 December.

The force said a warrant had been issued on the back of “intelligence gathered within the community” and upon arrival at the town centre address a man was found watering the plants, who has now been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

Sgt Hannah Taala said: “This was a fantastic find for our local officers and I am glad that we have been able to remove such a large amount of illicit drugs from our streets.”
