High Hopes for Jones Soda’s Cannabis Drink Fade
June 25, 2025
Similar to several other beverage makers, Seattle’s Jones Soda is getting out of the cannabis business.
The craft beverage company known for its playful marketing and premium sodas has sold the business for $3 million to privately held cannabis company MJ Reg Disrupters just three years after creating its cannabis-infused Mary Jones brand.
The transaction is part of Jones’ previously announced strategy to focus on its core soda offerings and emerging adult beverage categories. Jones generated $400,000 in revenue from its cannabis business in its fiscal first quarter, down more than 8% from the same period last year. Mary Jones offers five different flavors.
Industry website Food Dive reports that several beverage makers have shifted their focus away from cannabis because of conflicting state laws and a lack of national regulation. Canada’s largest cannabis producer, Tilray Brands, is focusing more on beer, while Molson Coors ended its CBD beverage business in the United States almost three years ago.
Jones Soda is still sold in cannabis shops across the city — at least for now.
