THE LOWER HUMIDITY AS WELL. ALL RIGHT BROOKE THANK YOU. WE ARE FAST APPROACHING THE START OF HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH, A CELEBRATION OF HISPANIC AND LATINO HISTORY AND CULTURE. TONIGHT WE MEET THE FOUNDERS OF AN ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE ENVIRONMENT. VANESSA VANESSA VINENT HAS THE STORY. VOLO FOUNDATION BEGAN AS A MISSION FROM A HISPANIC FAMILY FOUNDED BY DAVID VOGEL, AND LOPEZ VOGEL. THE FOUNDATION NOW FOCUSES ON HEALTH, EDUCATION AND THE ENVIRONMENT. WE STARTED THINKING OF EDUCATION AND HEALTH, WHICH ARE ALWAYS THE FOUNDATION’S PRIMARY FOCUSES. MY HUSBAND DID THE NUMBERS. HE’S AN MIT GRADUATE AND HE DID THE NUMBERS HIMSELF. WHEN PEOPLE STARTED TALKING ABOUT CLIMATE AND THE ENVIRONMENT AND HE SAID, THAT’S THE BIGGEST THREAT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. WE HAVE SIX KIDS TOGETHER, AND WE DECIDED TO PUT A LOT OF MORE EFFORT IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SIDE. THE FOUNDATION IS WORKING TO TURN SCIENCE RESEARCH INTO ACTION. THE MISSION IS VERY LONG, BUT WE ACTUALLY WHAT WE WANT IS TO BRING DATA DRIVEN SOLUTIONS TO ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES AS WELL AS HEALTH CHALLENGES AND EDUCATION. THE MAIN MISSION IS TO EDUCATE PEOPLE AS TECHNOLOGY INVOLVES. THE SCIENCE IS THERE TO SUPPORT IT. AS A PROUD LATINA, SHE BRINGS HEART AND HERITAGE TO EVERYTHING SHE DOES, I THINK BEING LATINA MAKES YOU A LITTLE BIT MORE FIGHTER BECAUSE WE COME FROM COUNTRIES THAT ARE LESS FORTUNATE TO HAVE EVERYTHING THAT A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY HAS. SO I THINK WE DO EVERYTHING WITH MORE PASSION. DEFINITELY, SHE SAYS. THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONNECTED TO NATURE, OFTEN LIVING ON THE FRONT LINES OF CLIMATE IMPACTS.
