‘House of David’ Renewed for Season 2 at Amazon Prime Video

House of David” has been renewed for a second season at Amazon Prime Video. The news comes after the series premiered with 22 million viewers in its first 17 days of streaming, and ahead of the Season 1 finale on April 3.

The biblical drama tells the story of David (Michael Iskander), an outcast teenager who is anointed as the new king by the prophet Samuel (Stephen Lang) as the once-mighty King Saul (Ali Suliman) falls victim to his own pride and begins to lose power.

Season 2 will follow David’s rise to the throne in the aftermath of his battle with Goliath (Martyn Ford), as he also navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy and a growing romance.

“House of David” is based on an idea by Jon Erwin, who writes, directs and executive produces alongside Jon Gunn via Wonder Project. Executive producers for Season 2 also include Justin Rosenblatt, Trey Callaway, Michael Frislev, Chad Oakes, Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris serve, with Rosenblatt serving as executive in charge of production on behalf of Wonder Project. Dallas Jenkins is a shareholder and special advisor to Wonder Project. Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television produce in association with Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios.

Along with Iskander, Ford and Lang, the cast includes Indy Lewis, Yali Topol Margalith, Ethan Kai, Sam Otto, Oded Fehr, Louis Ferreira, Davood Ghadami, Ashraf Barhom and Alexander Uloom, who will all return for Season 2.
