PERHAM
— The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management approved about 250 permits on June 5. Where the applicants plan to open a cultivation or retail business is still unknown.

Jim Walker, public information officer for the state Office of Cannabis Management, stated in an email that lottery winners’ application numbers were published.

“Once each person completes their final step and becomes a full licensee, we will be able to make some of their information public,” Walker wrote.

He added, when permit holders’ names are released, their residences may not be indicative of where the business will be located.

During the Otter Tail County Board meeting on Tuesday, June 10, County Administrator Nicole Hansen said the county had not been contacted by anyone who was chosen during the state’s cannabis lottery.

She said the county took the lead in managing the new business sector by creating an ordinance. Many townships and some cities decided to allow the county to regulate the business on their behalf. Perham and Fergus Falls created their own cannabis ordinances, and Hansen said they may have been contacted for potential cannabis businesses.

Perham City Administrator Jon Smith stated in an email on Wednesday, June 11, that the city had not received any applications relating to the cannabis industry.
