With Cyber Monday just around the corner, shoppers should have a strategy to get the most out of the digital deals. Annabelle Sedano reports for Today in LA on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025.

With the holiday shopping season well under full swing, consumers are seeking ways to get the most out of the deals retailers are offering.

With Black Friday and Small Business Saturday over, shoppers are looking ahead to Cyber Monday for gifts for their loved ones and treats for themselves. With a slew of discounts available online, budgeting expert Andrea Woroch offered tips consumers can consider to maximize their shopping holiday and protect themselves from scammers.

According to Woroch, the deepest discounts on Monday will be offered for clothing, footwear and beauty products.

“Particularly clothing brands; They offer these sitewide sales, so you’re looking at maybe 30 to 40 percent off sitewide, so that could really add up in terms of savings,” she said. “And then there will be some select electronic deals.”

A recent study by WalletHub showed that 36% of holiday items offer no savings compared to prices set before Black Friday, making some shoppers wary and suspicious of some retailers. Woroch recommends looking to camelcamelcamel for an item’s price history to determine if purchasing it at this time is really worth it.

“Prices are always fluctuating, so it’s confusing,” she said. “You definitely want to check historical pricing data.”

Another bit of advice Woroch shared is for consumers to sign up for loyalty programs for retailers they plan to purchase from this holiday season.

Many stores opened early for Black Friday with plans to stay open late into the night. Christian Cázares reports for the NBC4 News at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.

“This could get you a new subscriber coupon, which could get you up to 20% off plus free shipping both ways, which is pretty big since a lot of retailers are cracking down on those free return shipping policies,” she said.

While consumers will be checking out discounts available online, scammers and hackers will be looking for opportunities to prey upon shoppers. With Cyber Monday purchases being made online, bargain hunters are vulnerable to criminals looking to leech off them.

“This is big because a lot of scams are happening in this time of year, so you have to really be vigilant,” Woroch said. “First of all, make sure you’re shopping on a secure network. If you’re traveling, you might be using an open network available at the airport, or a coffee shop, but that’s where hackers can come in and steal your credit card or payment information, so make sure it’s a locked, secure network.”

Woroch also recommended using a credit card to make Black Friday purchases since they come with multiple layers of protection.
