A tropical wave that we’ve been tracking for about a week has now been tagged Invest-95 by the National Hurricane Center. That means that we are now able to run computer models.

For now, the system is in the open Atlantic, several hundred miles from the coast of the Cabo Verde islands, but is working toward the Caribbean islands. It’s expected to arrive by late this week.

As of the 2 p.m. update, Invest 95 has a 50% chance of forming over the next two days and a 70% chance of forming over the next seven days.

A weak area of low pressure located over the north-central Gulf is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms near the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

This system is expected to move slowly northwestward during the next day or two, reaching the coast of Texas by Monday.
