Celebrity yacht season has begun, and this year it kicked off not with a bottle of Champagne shattered on the bow of a ship but with Jeff Bezos’s hand spanking Lauren Sánchez’s butt on the deck of his megayacht in Cannes. Yes, there are photos. Yes, they will make you grimace.

The fiancés are currently living it up in the south of France, where Bezos seems to have met up with Sánchez after her Paris bachelorette party. On Sunday, they partook in one of their favorite pastimes: getting handsy on Bezos’s yacht, Koru. The Daily Mailpublished the photos, which (perhaps mercifully) are behind a paywall. Instead, I offer you the tabloid’s description of what it called “the couple’s raunchiest public display yet”:

Up on deck, things got particularly steamy on Sunday when Bezos cheekily slapped her backside – on full display in a miniscule thong – and tenderly caressed her ample chest.

That about sums it up. The hanky panky was just the start of their French adventure, however. That night, the couple were photographed on dry land walking to dinner. Holding hands the whole time, Sánchez was beaming and Bezos kept his sunglasses on even though it was decidedly post-sunset. A nice reminder that billions of dollars can’t make you cool enough to pull off nighttime shades.

Then, on Monday, Sánchez walked the red carpet at the Global Gift Gala, where she was honored with the Global Gift Women Empowerment Award for all of her philanthropic efforts. Women’s Wear Daily reported that it was for “her advocacy through the Bezos Earth Fund and This Is About Humanity,” while Ellesaid that it was for “her advocacy for women and underserved communities.” Are those the same things? Does it matter? In her speech, Sánchez said the night was about “recognizing our collective ability to light the way for each other, to lift people toward a future with empathy, dignity, and possibility.” Love that! She should get that ball rolling by convincing Jeff to let Amazon workers unionize.
