EXCLUSIVE: Amazon has found its new unscripted chief.

The streamer has named former Netflix exec Jenn Levy as Head of Unscripted and Documentary Television. It comes after former unscripted chief Lauren Anderson moved to a new, brand-funded role last year.

Levy has spent the past 18 months as President of Vanderpump Rules producer 32 Flavors. She begins the new role later this month.

The move doesn’t come as a surprise as Levy has been the odds-on favorite to join her former Netflix colleague Peter Friedlander, who took over as head of global TV from Vernon Sanders last year.

She will also be in charge of MGM Alternative, which now reports to Friedlander after it moved under Amazon MGM Studios. The division, previously run by Barry Poznick, produces series including The Voice and Survivor and operates production companies including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills producer Evolution Media and On Patrol: Live producer Big Fish Entertainment.

Levy was part of the Netflix team behind unscripted smash Love Is Blind and she will be tasked with finding similar success at Amazon, which has struggled to define its unscripted strategy in recent years.

She left Netflix in January 2024 when she was VP Unscripted. She had been with Netflix since 2017, having joined as Director of Unscripted Originals from NBCUniversal’s Bravo, where she had spent nine years. She was the company’s unscripted chief Brandon Riegg’s first hire after he joined the company at the end of 2016 and was also behind series such as Queer Eye, Nailed It!, and The Ultimatum.

In a note to staff, Friedlander said having a “single threaded leader for this vital piece of our business is crucial.”

As we head into 2026, I am pleased to share the news that Jenn Levy will join Amazon MGM Studios as Head of Unscripted and Documentary Television, reporting to me. In this new role, Jenn will oversee the entirety of our efforts in the unscripted space, with our Amazon MGM Unscripted, MGM Alternative, Big Fish Entertainment and Evolution Media teams all reporting up to her. Her remit will include both leadership of our development and production for Prime Video, as well as the shepherding and selling of projects to third parties.

Having a single threaded leader for this vital piece of our business is crucial – and bringing on someone of Jenn’s caliber to fill the job makes our future that much brighter. Jenn has played a leadership role in shows that have resonated far beyond the unscripted genre and crossed into global phenomenon territory – Love is Blind, The Real Housewives, Vanderpump Rules, Queer Eye, Top Chef, and Below Deck, just to name a few. Jenn joins us from leading unscripted production company 32 Flavors, where she served as President. Prior to that, she was SVP at Bravo, and then went on to Netflix, where she was one of the early leaders who helped build the company’s unscripted initiative and co-led the team for several years. Jenn will be based here in Culver City and her first day is January 20.
