Jeremy Clarkson says serious injury left him ‘barely able to move’

May 11, 2025

Jeremy Clarkson has shared insights into the future of his popular Amazon Prime show, Clarkson’s Farm, amidst dealing with a painful injury. The former Top Gear presenter, 65, has been diligently filming the fifth series of the hit farming show.

His Oxfordshire farm has become somewhat of an attraction, drawing visitors from as far as China. However, Jeremy has admitted he needs a break.

He also expressed concern about a recurring back issue that started troubling him last year. “I’d do a sixth if there was a reason for doing it, like a bloody good story,” he told The Times.

“But if, say, my back turns out to be cancerous then I wouldn’t. Whatever happens we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”

“Jeremy suggested he’d turn to alcohol if he retired entirely, claiming he lacks hobbies or other skills. In November, Jeremy revealed he was barely able to move due to what he suspected was a slipped disc.

If followed a life-saving operation to unblock his arteries. The health scare, which brought him dangerously close to a potentially fatal heart attack, prompted him to overhaul his lifestyle.

During a holiday, while diving off a boat, he realised he needed to make significant changes in his life. “I always try and dive off a boat on every holiday because at my age you never know when your last dive is going to be, or your last anything, for that matter.”

The dive resulted in a massive belly flop. “When I finally reached the beach my lungs were full of water and I realised I can’t do it any more.”

Back home in Chadlington, he woke up feeling “clammy, with a tightness in my chest”. Then his arm became numb with pins and needles, prompting him to call an ambulance. A CAT scan at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford revealed two crucial arteries were blocked, likely due to years of smoking 40 Marlboro a day (he quit in 2017).

Doctors inserted two stents to keep the blood vessels open and advised him to avoid high fat and processed foods.

May 23 sees the start of season four of Clarkson’s Farm
