Get ready for the 8th Annual Reef and Beach Clean Up, a family-friendly event with a twist! Originally scheduled for last September, this event was postponed due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene and Milton, but it’s back and better than ever. Hosted by Suncoast Aqua Ventures, the 2025 event offers an exciting mix of environmental action and competition, with a chance to win cash prizes while making a meaningful impact on the local environment.

The Reef and Beach Clean Up isn’t your typical environmental event. It combines eco-consciousness with a friendly competition, where participants can win cash prizes in categories such as Most Recyclables, Most Tires, Most Anchors, and Most Shoes. Whether you’re a seasoned SCUBA diver or prefer the land-based cleanup, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. For those with access to boats, you can even clean up the underwater areas, helping to protect both our beaches and our reefs.

Since its founding in 2016, Suncoast Aqua Ventures has rallied over 2,200 volunteers, who have collectively removed an incredible 182,000 pounds of trash from Florida’s coastal and underwater ecosystems. What began as a small, local initiative has grown into a large-scale environmental movement, uniting volunteers, environmentalists, and outdoor enthusiasts from all over.

Cheryl Huntsinger, President of Suncoast Aqua Ventures, shares her thoughts on the event’s origins: “After seeing the overwhelming amount of debris littering our coastlines and underwater habitats, we knew something had to be done. What better way to address this issue than by creating a fun, competitive, and family-friendly event to bring people together? It’s amazing to see how much we’ve achieved in just a few short years.”
