Our journalist roundtable segment for May 16 included Kate Huangpu of Spotlight PA and Kara Jeffers of Lilly Broadcasting, who discussed the latest developments in Pennsylvania’s push to legalize recreational cannabis.

Earlier this month, the Pennsylvania House narrowly passed a bill proposing the sale of recreational cannabis through state-run stores, marking a historic first for the state. However, the bill faces significant opposition in the Republican-controlled Senate. Senator Dan Laughlin, a key Republican figure, criticized the state-store model for potentially excluding private businesses and creating logistical challenges, stating it has “zero chance” of advancing in the Senate.
