Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s relationship might end up being one that got away. The celebrity couple met in 2016 but broke up for the entirety of 2017, as Perry revealed on a 2024 Call Her Daddy episode, before getting back together. They got engaged in 2019 and had a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, that same year, though they never married. Now, nearly a decade after they first connected, they’re reportedly breaking up — and Jeff Bezos’s over-the-top wedding to Lauren Sánchez is caught in the middle.
Rumors picked up on June 9 when People reported that Perry’s album 143 underperforming and the Lifetimes Tour getting poor reviews was impacting their relationship. “Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,” the source said. “It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.” The initial report didn’t indicate they were planning on separation, but the very next day, June 10, “Page Six” claimed the relationship was all but officially done. “It’s over,” their source said. “They are waiting ’til her tour is over before they split.”
Yes — apparently one point of contention was the Bezos-funded hopecore trip to space on Blue Origin. “From day one, Orlando didn’t think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash,” a source told The Sun on June 12. The source added that “he always thought it was a stupid idea and she wouldn’t get anything positive out of it.”
However, The Sun later contradicted split rumors on June 21: “No one has decided it’s definitely the end of the road for Katy and Orlando,” their source said, while acknowledging that they needed to have “make-or-break talks.”
Well, Bloom took Daisy on a trip to see Perry in Australia while she was touring, “Page Six” confirmed on June 23. But that same day, the Daily Mail reported that Perry is renting out the Montecito home she bought in 2023 after battling an 85-year-old veteran in court. (To Chris Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, of all people.) “The arrangement suits Chris but it’s a bit of a surprise given how Katy fought tooth and nail to get her hands on the house,” the source said. “She previously suggested it was the ideal place for her and Orlando to raise a family. After all that time, energy, and money, it seems unthinkable that they are not going to live in it.”
Since Perry is still on her Lifetimes Tour through December 7, she will reportedly not be attending the billionaire’s wedding (but she was able to attend her fellow astronaut’s Paris bachelorette party in May). Bloom will reportedly be attending alone. Other big names expected to attend include Leonardo DiCaprio and Karlie Kloss. The multiday wedding celebration kicked off with an out-of-touch yacht-set foam party on June 22. Another event will reportedly feature a performance from Matteo Bocelli, Andrea Bocelli’s son.
Bloom attending a wedding alone is not quite confirmation of the split, but TMZ sure made it sound like it was when the site wrote “Orlando Bloom Coming in Hot & Single for Bezos/Sánchez Wedding!!!” “He’s the life of the party and he’s gonna hit the dance floor hard!” a source said, adding that “90% of the people at the wedding are kinda boring, but 10% are really fun, including Orlando, Leo and Jeff (Bezos). It’s gonna be a great party!”
No, and neither has Bloom, although he is in ads for a cruise company with Drew Barrymore, which is giving divorced energy. And don’t look to Perry’s onstage persona for clues — if there’s one thing Katy Perry: Part of Me, the 2012 documentary, taught us, it’s that she’ll be able to perform through a divorce.
