Kazakhstan boosts renewable energy output by 15% in Q1 2026

The country plans to generate 8.8 billion kWh from renewable sources in 2026.

10 new facilities will be launched this year, including four wind farms, five solar plants, and a hydropower station with a combined capacity of 245 MW.

The share of renewables accounted for 7% of electricity generation in 2025. Kazakhstan aims to raise this figure to 15% by 2030.

Kazakhstan continues the active development of clean energy. Major international companies such as TotalEnergies, China Power, Masdar, and China Energy are already investing in the country’s clean energy sector.

By 2035, the country plans to add more than 8 GW of renewable capacity, strengthening energy security and diversifying its energy mix.

To note, Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Energy, China Energy International Group discussed joint projects in renewable energy sources.
