Kent Hollenbeck to leave Amazon after latest round of layoffs

February 2, 2026

PORTLAND, OR: Kent Hollenbeck, Amazon’s marketing and brand lead for fulfillment technologies and robotics, has been impacted by the company’s latest round of layoffs.

Hollenbeck, who has worked at the tech giant since 2020, addressed the departure on LinkedIn. He said that he is seeking remote or hybrid roles in the Portland, Oregon, area.

Hollenbeck was not immediately available for additional comment.

Amazon said last week it plans to eliminate about 16,000 corporate jobs in an effort to “strengthen our organization by reducing layers, increasing ownership and removing bureaucracy.” The company is also investing in artificial intelligence.

The latest move follows a separate round of 14,000 layoffs at the company in October across its corporate workforce. The 30,000 job cuts since October represent about 10% of Amazon’s corporate and tech workforce, which comprises roughly 350,000 people, CNBC reported.

At the end of the third quarter, Amazon had about 1.58 million total staffers.

Amazon’s net sales increased 13% to $180.2 billion in the third quarter, compared with $158.9 billion in the year-ago period. Net profit surged 39% to $21.2 billion in the quarter.

Prior to joining Amazon, Hollenbeck worked at Edelman for five years, most recently as an executive vice president leading the firm’s Pacific Northwest corporate and public affairs practice.

Earlier in his career, Hollenbeck was a vice president at Matter Communications, running its West Coast office. He launched and was a principal at The Hollenbeck Group for about a year before Matter bought the firm to expand to the West Coast in 2013.

Before founding his own agency, Hollenbeck was a senior vice president at We. Communications for more than a decade and worked in-house as a PR manager at Gateway.
