NuEra Cannabis opens its doors in Frankfort, becoming Kentucky’s fifth medical dispensary.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Another medical cannabis dispensary has opened in Kentucky.

NuEra Cannabis, located at 325 Leonardwood Drive, opened in Frankfort on Friday. It’s the state’s fifth dispensary open to approved medical cannabis cardholders.

The new dispensary looks to provide access to lab-tested, regulated cannabis products – all of which, by law, must be grown, processed and tested in Kentucky.

“As cultivators and processors get up and running in this new market, patients should expect that supply will be limited during the first few months,” Divina Capellupo, a principal of nuEra Frankfort, said in a statement. “We are already working with licensed operators to secure access to products as they complete their initial harvests, and availability is expected to improve steadily over time.”

Since the state’s medical cannabis program launched last year, more than 23,000 Kentuckians have been approved for a medical cannabis card to treat various chronic conditions including PTSD, cancer, multiple sclerosis and more.

“Our work is giving folks an opportunity at a better life with less pain and suffering,” Gov. Andy Beshear said Thursday.

Louisville’s first medical cannabis dispensary, Kentucky Alternative Care, is expected to open on Saturday.

Other Kentucky medical cannabis dispensaries are currently open in Nicholasville, Lexington, Ferguson and Beaver Dam.
