Larson’s paint schemes revealed for Indy 500/Coke 600 double

April 2, 2025

After a failed attempt in 2024, Kyle Larson is coming back in 2025 hungrier than ever as he seeks to finally become the fifth driver (and the first since 2014) to complete ‘The Double’ by running the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

Larson will pilot his usual No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet at Charlotte while driving the No. 17 Chevrolet at Indy, which is being fielded in a partnership between Hendrick and Arrow-McLaren. Last year, Larson ran strong at Indy before a late-race speeding penalty left him with an 18th-place finish. At Charlotte, he never got to actually compete due to rain delaying the Indy 500. Justin Allgaier drove the No. 5 in his place with Larson planning to take over mid-race, only to have the same rain that impacted Indy earlier in the day to arrive and end NASCAR’s (not quite) 600-miler before he ever got the chance.

Both cars will feature the blue Hendrickcars.com colors NASCAR fans have come to associate with Larson, but also some papaya orange as a nod to McLaren’s involvement. They will also don a lot of white with some very noticeable branding from Amazon’s Prime Video on the open-wheel car’s side pods. Amazon has partnered with Larson for the event and is also filming a documentary surrounding his attempt to complete ‘The Double.’

For the uninitiated, the Indy 500 is truly the greatest spectacle in racing. One of the oldest and most prestigious auto racing events on the planet, dating back to 1911 and featuring 33 drivers taking on the blistering fast 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the famous Borg-Warner trophy. The Coca-Cola 600 isn’t NASCAR’s biggest race (that distinction belongs to the Daytona 500), but it is its longest. No other race on the calendar reaches beyond 500 miles except this one, and it’s been that way since the inaugural running of the event at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1960.
