Lewis Hamilton brought Kim Kardashian to a Japanese car meet in a Ferrari F40

April 6, 2026

In the automotive industry, a hard launch is a strong acceleration pull designed to get a car up to speed as quickly as possible with little concern for the safety of the transmission involved in the launching. Under popular online parlance, “hard launch” means something else entirely. In a new video posted to Instagram, seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton does both in a Ferrari F40.

The clip shows Hamilton in an F40 at the Daikoku Parking Area, a popular meeting spot for enthusiasts in Tokyo. Like in a similar social video filmed in an R34 GT-R back in 2022, the clip goes on to show Hamilton sliding around, doing burnouts, and otherwise hooning the legendary Ferrari in a wide variety of settings.

As the video ends, it takes one last major turn. In the last shot, smoke clears as the camera pulls in on a passenger: Kim Kardashian. The clip seems to be the first time Hamilton has posted himself with Kardashian on his social feeds, effectively making for a “hard launch” in the less-automotive sense.

Hamilton and Kardashian have been seen socializing together since February, most notably appearing together at the Super Bowl nearly two months ago. The 105-time grand prix winner has scored one podium in three races this year, securing a top three finish for the first time since joining Ferrari last year. He currently sits fourth in the championship, eight points behind teammate Charles Leclerc. Two race cancellations in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain mean that F1 has over a month off before its next race in Miami, the first of three races in Kardashian’s home country.
