L’Oreal Reaches 100% Renewable Energy in Europe
April 1, 2025
Beauty company L’Oréal announced that it has reached 100% renewable energy for its European operations – including factories, distribution centers and offices – as of December 2024.
The announcement marks a significant step towards the achievement of one of the company’s key sustainability goals under its “L’Oréal for the future” strategy, which include targets to reach carbon neutrality and 100% renewable energy use at all sites by 2025.
According to L’Oreal’s most recent sustainability report, as of the end of 2023, 83% of the company’s operated sites globally had reached 100% renewable energy, up from only 34% in 2019. Europe accounts for a significant portion of L’Oreal’s operating footprint, containing 19 of the company’s 38 factories, including 11 in France.
The achievement follows the announcement last year by L’Oreal that it had reached 100% renewable energy in its South Asia Pacific, Middle East & North Africa (SAPMENA) Zone.
In a post announcing the achievement, Vianney Derville, President of Europe Zone at L’Oreal said:
“This accomplishment follows a year of strong progress, with 98% of our energy in Europe sourced from renewable sources throughout 2024. It is a testament to the hard work and vision of our teams.
“We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry. Together, we can make a real difference!”
