The Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail will be temporarily closed on the mornings of May 12, May 19 and May 26 for essential maintenance.

To ensure public safety during that time, the trail will be closed until 11 a.m.

Maintenance crews will clear away the large amounts of overgrowth and vegetation that grew along the trail because of the heavy rainfall in recent months. This will also help improve and preserve the trail and landscape. Crews will use motorized string trimmers, which can cause debris and small rocks to go airborne.

Once workers complete the job, they will open the trail to the public again at 11 a.m. daily.
