Man arrested after 1-year-old child ingested cannabis edible, SAPD says

Police arrested Jacob Carranza for an incident where a baby ingested a cannabis edible.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested after a 1-year-old baby girl ingested a cannabis edible early Thursday morning, according to a police report.

Jacob Carranza, 22, was charged with Injury to Child and booked in the Bexar County jail. 

Police were called to the 300 block of N Santa Rosa around 2:45a.m. for a welfare check after a baby girl was brought into a local hospital. 

Authorities said the child got hold of a cannabis edible and ingested it. It is unclear how the edible got in the possession of the child or how Carranza is related to the baby. 

According to SAPD, the child was taken to the hospital and was monitored by medical staff. The baby was said to be in stable condition at last check. 

 Jail records show that Carranza was released on a $20,000 bond.
